The English Learner Specialist is here to support districts with, but not limited to, instructional engagement strategies for teachers i.e. SIOP, professional development, modeling lessons, parent involvement/activities, ELD curriculum, test preparation for ELPA and SBAC, material/technology needs, administration consultation and coaching to school districts serving diverse populations through these services:

• Provides support services for successful implementation of English Language Development Programs in compliance with State and Federal guidelines

• Facilitate EL/Emerging Bilingual staff development programs that are consistent with district needs

• Establishes a link to the Oregon Department of Education

• Supports collaboration with dual-language schools to develop programs based on DL Guiding Principles and best practices
