Personal Leave FAQs
How much personal leave do I get every year? (Must be employed for 9-months or longer)
Full-Time Employees: 3 days per year +1 conditional day (must be superintendent approved)
Part-Time Employees: Pro-rated based on FTE (calculated against 3 days)
***Personal leave does NOT roll over, or accumulate. Unused PL will be applied to sick leave balance the following school year.

Vacation FAQs
How much Vacation do I get every year?
10 vacation days for 1-5 years of employment (12-month employees)
15 vacation days for 6-10 years of employment (12-month employees)
20 vacation days for 10+ years of employment (12-month employees)
11-month employees are pro-rated based on days listed above
***10 days of Vacation can roll over to the following school year, on July 1st

Bereavement Leave FAQs
Do I get bereavement leave?
Yes, under OFLA, employees will be allowed up to 2 weeks of unpaid leave after the death of a family member
Full-time employees are allowed 3 days of paid bereavement leave + 2 additional days of paid emergency leave (5 days total) Emergency leave must be approved by the superintendent (complete emergency leave request form)
Part-time employees will have their paid bereavement leave pro-rated
What do I do?
Notify your supervisor as soon as possible
Email Kristia Simmons or Matt Mejia to create the bereavement leave option in your Okta portal
Input all your leave into OKTA, under bereavement leave
Jury Duty FAQs
Do I get paid for Jury Duty?
Yes, your pay will remain the same during jury duty service
Any monies paid for jury duty services, excluding travel expenses, shall reduce payment.
Court appearances are treated the same as jury duty service.
Any monies paid for court appearances, excluding travel expenses, shall reduce payment.
What do I do?
Notify your supervisor as soon as possible
Email Kristia Simmons or Matt Mejia to create the jury duty leave option in your Okta portal, include attached jury duty summons
Input all your leave into OKTA, under jury duty leave
Sick Leave FAQs
How much sick leave do I get every year?
12 Month Employees: 12 days per year
10 Month Employees: 10 days per year
9 Month Employees: 9 days per year
***Sick leave rolls over, and accumulates, without limit
What do I do?
Notify your supervisor/building/school as soon as possible
Input all your leave into OKTA, under sick leave
What do I do if I miss more than 5 days?
Notify your supervisor as soon as possible

Out of Leave?
Can I take unpaid leave?
Unpaid leave must be submitted and granted by the superintendent (complete an unpaid leave request form)
Dr. Note may be requested

Once unpaid leave is granted (and you do not qualify for protected leave) email Kristia Simmons or Matt Mejia to input the unpaid leave option into your OKTA portal.

How do I know if I am covered for protected leave with the ESD?

How long can I take protected leave for?
In most cases, you are entitled to 12 weeks of protected leave, for a qualifying event
Is this paid?
Under Paid Leave Oregon: Family, Medical, and Safe leave are paid and/or protected leave for qualifying events. Payment is a portion of your salary, and is paid and calculated by the State of Oregon.
Oregon Family Leave (OFLA) & Federal Family Leave (FMLA) are unpaid
Am I required to use all my ESD accrued leave while I am on Paid Protected Leave (PLO)?
No, you have an option of using your ESD accrued leave AND receive payment from Paid Leave Oregon (PLO). In some cases you would receive over 100% of your salary
or, you are able to use some (or none) of your ESD accrued leave while receiving payments from Paid Leave Oregon (PLO). In this scenario, days off could be deducted from your monthly pay and you would have unpaid leave.

Always Input all your leave into OKTA (even if it is unpaid)
Medical certification by your Dr. may be required
Release by Dr., to return to work, may be requested
